Our WORKING EFFECTIVELY WITH … programmes are constantly evolving & developing. Every course is tailor-made, based on the particular needs of individual delegate-groups.
WIDE-RANGING & COMPREHENSIVE: course content ranges from background briefings on Japan and Japanese society, to skills sessions devoted to its communications and business protocols, to analyses of its social & business cultures, its business system & business processes, all focussing on issues commonly faced by ‘outsiders’ selling to/buying from/partnering Japanese companies
BESPOKE: course content is determined by the needs of those being trained. Each delegate is asked to complete a Pre-Course Personal Profile [on-line] which helps us to tailor course content to the particular needs of the delegates attending each course
USER-FRIENDLY: timing/duration of courses & choice of course venues are client-led. Clients choose whether their course is delivered in-house, a training centre or in a suitably equipped hotel. Delegates have direct contact with our training team members both before and after the courses they attend
PARTICIPATIVE: courses are run as seminars. The style is informal, the approach is highly inter-active. Delegates are audited pre-course about their knowledge & perceptions of Japan - audit results are then discussed & used during the course; shukudai [宿題 ‘homework’, in Japanese] is set at the end of each day, rôle-play & simulation are used throughout the course to enhance & develop practical skills
LAVISHLY SUPPORTED: delegates receive detailed, ring-bound course notes designed for use as an on-going reference resource, long after a course finishes; many pages are bi-lingual. Delegates also receive copies of published language/protocol guides - written by the trainers - along with a variety of other materials, such as maps & travel documents [for delegates making business trips or expatriating to Japan]. A display showing a selection of our published titles can be browsed on the What Can We Offer You ... Consultancy page of this site.
'JAPAN-ised': each course includes a number of Japanese features, to give a Japanese ‘feel’ to the training. These include realia & book displays, delegate badges & training room signage in Japanese, serving Japanese tea & savouries at breaks, a Japanese lunch[sushi or o-bento, complete with chopsticks], course documentation [such as delegates’ name lists, course certificates, corporate charts] translated into Japanese and the use of spoken Japanese at frequent intervals throughout the course & during rôle-plays. At least 1 member of each training team is a native Japanese
ON-GOING: delegates receive follow-up after their course [usually by e-mail], on issues of importance that emerged during the course. Further advice can also be provided - and draft documents can be vetted - when delegates first attempt to implement new strategies & use new skills with Japanese customers, developed as part of their training. Our Message Boardand our Japan Resourcespages are constantly evolving, practical & valuable resources through which delegates can maintain & further develop their skills and knowledge long after they have attended one of our courses
TEAM-BASED: Courses are team-led by 2~3 trainers, at least 1 of whom is a native Japanese. All our trainers have experience of working in Japan - experience which is put to practical use throughout our courses
The course did require effort from us, but we found this was really beneficial as the course was almost tailor-made to reflect our wants and needs; it fully met all of our expectations and dealt perfectly with the concerns people had.
